BACKGROUND:

The fire department has been experiencing an increased misuse of the EMS system. The fee schedule amendment would allow the department to charge for misuse of EMS services in order to offset expenses incurred in responding to non-emergent EMS requests.

FISCAL EFFECT:

The "non-emergent EMS request" fee would provide $440 of revenue for four or more incidents.

RECOMMENDATION:

Approve the proposed amendment to the fire department fee schedule.

ALTERNATIVES:

As determined by the Commission.
