Staff has been working since February of 2024 with Dick Horton Consulting on the draft Five-Year Parks and Recreation Master Plan, the drafting of which has been informed by survey data, interviews with community stakeholders and input gathered through public meetings and an open house. Specifically, the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board discussed the draft in seven meetings, while the Harbor Advisory and Presque Isle Park Advisory committees provided input prior to the merger of those three bodies. The Planning Commission reviewed the document on February 18.
Staff is now prepared to make the full draft plan available for public review, and is recommending the City Commission schedule a public hearing to consider adoption of the plan following the closure of that public review window.
The draft plan is available for review on the City's website, and is also available in paper format in the Parks and Recreation office in Lakeview Arena.
