The Police Department received the Small Rural Tribal Body Worn Camera grant for replacement of 27 body worn cameras and related hardware and software.
The Police Department beta tested several body cameras over the past few years. Axon is the industry standard, its camera system allows interconnectivity with the future anticipated update of in-car cameras of the same brand, and offers officer safety and evidence retention options not offered by other body worn camera manufacturers.
Axon provided a quote for a five-year contract, which includes the body worn cameras, charging stations, training, related hardware and software and cloud-based video storage for $56,592.11 for year one. The cost of $24,314.52 per year for years 2-5 is for cloud-based video storage.
The City Attorney has reviewed the grant agreement and the purchase agreement.
