Per City Commission Policy 2005-01, Naming Parks and Recreation Facilities, a request was forwarded to the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board. At their June 2024 meeting, the Board reviewed the request with supporting documentation. After discussion, the Board voted unanimously to support the request to rename the facility.

Nheena Weyer Ittner was instrumental in both proposing the idea of a permanent built skate park and in the fundraising to make the facility a reality.  Her commitment to serving the youth of this community and unique skill at raising funds combined with her visionary leadership resulted in a place for the youth of the area to congregate, challenge themselves, socialize and grow.

Several letters of support from community members are attached. Community Services staff fully support this proposal.
