The City of Marquette has used security cameras for several years at multiple city locations, including intersections, for security and investigation. The surveillance footage is monitored by the City Police Department and is retained as needed.
When the current system was installed in 2016, it supported 12 security cameras. Over the years, the demand for cameras and storage has continued to increase rapidly, and more than 60 cameras are now in use.
Due to this increased load on the system, as well as the age of the equipment and the advancement of technology, the system must be replaced.
IT staff has researched available systems which are Trade Agreements Act (TAA) and National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) compliant. The new system must have enough storage for an expansion to 200 cameras and be able to hold a minimum of 45 days of data storage per camera.
IT staff received the following quotes from security camera system vendors:
Milestone Systems $52,082.00
Genetech Inc. $69,056.00
Synology $35,275.00
After vendor demonstrations and system testing, IT staff recommends leasing the Synology security camera system. This is the best option for the City and the best price.
