The City issued a Request for Proposals on July 19, 2022, based upon City Commission direction to seek missing-middle housing at a higher density for the vacant City-owned parcel 0240012 located at 600 W. Spring Street (attached).
The City received one proposal from Marquette County Habitat for Humanity (Habitat) in response to the RFP. The proposal was subsequently amended following in-depth conversation about developing the site. The final proposal was for eight single family homes for households between 30% and 60% of the poverty threshold in Marquette County that meet the Marquette County Habitat for Humanity requirements.
The City Commission approved a resolution of intent to sell for this property at their December 12, 2022 regular meeting. Following this meeting, the City Manager opened negotiations with Habitat and approved a right of entry permit to allow access to the property to conduct an environmental review. Upon completion of this review with minimal findings, and an appraisal, the City Manager has negotiated a purchase price of $123,200, 80% of the appraised value.
