Agenda Date: 9/25/2023 Consent Agenda - Roll Call Vote Downtown Development Authority Operating and Maintenance Agreement

BACKGROUND:

The current Operating and Maintenance Agreement between the Downtown Development Authority (DDA) and the City of Marquette expires on Sept. 30, 2023. Renewal of this Agreement is required in order for the DDA to continue to function. The proposed Agreement (attached) has been negotiated with City and DDA staff, and reviewed and approved as to form by the City Attorney.

Notable changes incorporated within this renewal Agreement include: the DDA will now pay for all on-street parking space markings, the DDA will maintain the new “Pier Lot” at the end of E. Baraga Ave. adjacent to One Marquette Place, and a fuel depot agreement.

This agreement was approved by the DDA Board of Directors at their Sept. 14, 2023 regular meeting.

FISCAL EFFECT:

As outlined in the proposed Agreement.

RECOMMENDATION:

Approve the Agreement between the City and the Downtown Development Authority for the period Oct. 1, 2023 - Sept. 30, 2028, and authorize the Mayor and Clerk to sign the Agreement.

ALTERNATIVES:

As determined by the Commission.
