New Business Supervisors' Labor Agreement |
| | | | | | | | | BACKGROUND: | The City of Marquette has reached a new four-year agreement with the Supervisory Employees' Chapter of AFSCME Local #1852. The bargaining unit has ratified the Agreement. The main issues during negotiations were wages, including on-call pay and the conversion of the two Plant Supervisors to exempt status being paid by salary, in addition to the implementation of flexible work schedules. The parties have agreed to a four-year contract with a 5% wage increase for year one, and 3% wage increases for years two through four.
The City's bargaining team commends the Supervisory unit of AFSCME for their willingness to work with us to negotiate an Agreement that is fair to the employees and the City. |

| | | | | | | | | FISCAL EFFECT: | For year one, a 5% increase to base wages and an increase of 26 hours annually per non-exempt Supervisor in on-call pay equates to a cost of roughly $47,750. This will require a budget adjustment.

| | | | | | | | | RECOMMENDATION: | | Approve the Supervisory Employees Labor Agreement effective October 1, 2023 through September 30, 2027, and authorize the Mayor and City Clerk to sign the Agreement. |
