BACKGROUND:

The Marquette Area Wastewater Treatment Facility and Water Filtration Plant annually solicit bids for water treatment chemicals. Ten suppliers responded this year. The attached bid tabulation includes delivered prices for chemicals meeting specifications.

Hydrofluosilicic Acid 23.0% to 26.0% - $0.3385 /lb.

Alexander Chemical Corp. – Peru, IL

Sodium Bisulfite, 38% minimum, Bulk Delivery - $0.279 /lb.

Wandels’ Water Care – Negaunee, MI

Water Softener Salt, 99.5% pellets, Bulk Delivery - $0.162/lb.

Hawkins, Inc. – Superior, WI

Sodium Hydroxide, 50%, Bulk Delivery - $3.4106 /gallon

USALCO – Baltimore, MD

Sodium Aluminate, Technical Grade 38% - $780.50 /wet ton

FISCAL EFFECT:

Funds are included in the FY 2024 Water and Wastewater Budgets.

RECOMMENDATION:

Award the chemical bids for FY 2024 to the successful bidders meeting specifications.
