A Brownfield Plan Amendment is being proposed to provide for continued Brownfield TIF capture for assessment and remediation activities at the Cliffs Dow property. A public hearing must be established and held by the City Commission for the approval of the Brownfield Plan Amendment.
A Brownfield Plan for the original Iron Bay Business Park (Community Bio Resource) was approved in 1999, an amended Brownfield Plan for the overall Cliffs Dow property was approved in 2010 to add Eligible Property and Eligible Activities, and this proposed Amended Brownfield Plan for Cliffs Dow will provide for additional Eligible Activities and continued tax capture.
The Brownfield Plan was presented to and approved by the Marquette Brownfield Redevelopment Authority at their August 17, 2023 meeting.
Attached is a resolution for consideration by the City Commission to set the public hearing for the City Commission for September 25, 2023 meeting. The Brownfield Plan Amendment will be presented for City Commission consideration at that meeting.
