The City Charter requires an annual performance evaluation of the City Manager. In August, the City Commission authorized the Mayor to appoint a subcommittee consisting of Commissioners Hanley, Ottaway and Smith to the evaluation committee. The subcommittee met to review the City Manager's performance and compensation earlier this month.
The overall evaluation was very positive. The Manager has successfully met all the City Charter requirements for her position and the majority of City Commissioners awarded her the highest rating in all other performance categories. Commissioner comments and suggestions have been provided to the City Manager.
The committee recommends increasing the length of the City Manager's severance terms from three to six months if terminated without cause in addition to extending the term of the City Manager's contract to September 30, 2026. In reviewing Commissioners' recommendations and City budgetary constraints, the committee also recommends the Commission revisit the Manager's compensation in the near future.
