At the October 11, 2022 regular meeting, the City Commission approved the grant award for the Michigan Arts and Culture Capital Grant to purchase staging that would be utilized at Lakeview Arena and within City Parks and facilities for special events.  The grant award was $28,759 and the matching funds of $28,759 were budgeted out of the remaining Hockeyville funds.

The existing staging at Lakeview has exceeded its useful life, is extremely heavy leading to injuries during transport and set-up, is not weatherproof, is not accessible and is not adjustable for uneven surfaces.  New staging will solve these challenges and be an asset to cultural events within the City while providing Lakeview Arena additional revenue. 

Community Services Staff obtained 3 quotes for staging, however only one company could meet all of our objectives of flexibility and accessibility.  Staff recommends Stage Right at a quoted price of $53,435.00 which is under budget and meets the grant requirements.
