The City Commission approved Sanders and Czapski Associates to design and oversee the installation of a playground at Tourist Park.
The City was successful in obtaining a Recreation Passport grant from the Department of Natural Resources in the amount of $45,000, with a $15,000 match, for the installation of playground equipment acquired from a Game Time grant. Through the design process staff has worked with Sanders and Czapski Associates to add accessible surfacing and elements consistent with the Parks and Recreation Master Plan. These accessible scope items have added significant cost to the project.
Engineers' estimates of costs indicate an additional $108,500 in costs, of which $75,000 is allocated to pour-in-place safety surfacing. The Tourist Park Enterprise Fund has adequate funds to cover the expense.
