Self-Funded Dental Contract |
| | | | | | | | | BACKGROUND: | As part of the July 1, 2022 health insurance renewal, 44North recommended the City move to a self-funded arrangement for dental insurance coverage in order to save money and hopefully avoid future increases in premium costs. The coverage is still through Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and includes all of the same benefit levels, it is simply funded by the City directly in a self-funded arrangement. Because of this change in our arrangement, another contract must be executed. |

| | | | | | | | | FISCAL EFFECT: | | The attached contract is standard and references a per-contract, per-month fee of $5.69, which is already included in our overall renewal rates with 44North. By electing the self-funded arrangement through BCBSM, the City will save 3.09% or $5,552 with this renewal year. |
