Long-Line Traffic Markings Contract |
| | | | | | | | | BACKGROUND: | | City traffic markings require annual repainting when using waterborne paint. The harsh winters and winter maintenance operations remove most of the paint by spring. The Department of Public Works has contracted out these services for several years. The long-line (centerlines and lane lines) work has been successful and will continue to be outsourced. In recent years the City has only received one bid for this type of service and has been unable to locate other potential bidders for this type of work. Staff is therefore recommending that the competitive bidding process be waived. Work will be completed this spring. |

| | | | | | | | | FISCAL EFFECT: | | The Major Street Fund for FY 21/22 contains $45,000 for contracted long-line traffic markings. |

| | | | | | | | | RECOMMENDATION: | | Waive the competitive bidding process and approve a contract for long-line traffic marking painting with P.K Contracting, Inc. of Lake City, Michigan in an amount not-to-exceed $40,000 at the unit prices quoted, and authorize the Mayor and Clerk to sign the agreement. |
