Moosewood Nature Center - Lease Agreement

BACKGROUND: 

Moosewood Nature Center has requested the City Commission lease space at 1 Peter White Drive.  Staff has worked with the City Attorney and Moosewood Nature Center to draft a standard lease agreement which provides the terms and conditions of the request.

 

The term of the lease is 10 years and rent is $1/year.  The lease outlines several services Moosewood has agreed to provide the City in lieu of additional monetary rent.  These include:

  • Two deer censuses performed at Presque Isle Park 
  • Quarterly reports of hours of operation, staff and board directory, and schedules of programming
  • Assist park visitors with information regarding park rules
  • Provide grant support as needed
  • Provide two educational programs annually for Tourist Park visitors.

 

Due to the public restroom attached to the facility, the City will pay the first $75 of electricity and cover water during the months of May through October.  Moosewood shall be responsible for all other utilities.


FISCAL EFFECT: 
The General fund will realize $1/year with this agreement.

RECOMMENDATION: 
Move the lease agreement with Moosewood Nature Center for space at 1 Peter White Drive to the next regular City Commission meeting.

ALTERNATIVES: 
As determined by the Commission.
