The City Charter requires an annual performance evaluation of the City Manager. At the Aug. 30th regular meeting, the City Commission directed the Mayor to appoint three Commissioners to an evaluation subcommittee. The subcommittee consisted of Mayor Smith, Commissioner Hanley and Commissioner Stonehouse. All Commissioners provided feedback regarding the Manager's performance so far in her limited tenure in the position as well as goals for her first year as required by her employment contract.
Recently, the subcommittee met to review the submitted feedback on the City Manager’s performance, as well as her compensation and first year goals.
The overall evaluation was very positive. The Manager is successfully meeting all City Charter requirements for her position and the City Commissioners rated her highly in many performance categories that have been observed in the three months she's been with the City of Marquette. The subcommittee recommends no salary increase at this time because of budgetary constraints imposed on the City by the current economy.
