Presque Isle Park Advisory Committee (PIPAC) has worked over the last two years to compile a list of regulations that would address the ever increasing stress on the natural resources of the park. City staff has worked to confirm that the majority of these regulations are enforceable with existing ordinances.
However, open burning still remains a concern; therefore Ordinance #696 is a high priority in order to reduce the risk of wildfire at the park. The purpose of this ordinance is to regulate open burning in the City in order to limit sources of fire in Presque Isle Park. This action would ban any fires for cooking or recreational enjoyment in the park, other than those in existing City-provided grilling appliances using charcoal as a fuel source.
Per the requirements of Section 3.1 of the City Charter, this action requires two reads. The first read was at the June 28, 2021 meeting.
