BACKGROUND:

The Marquette Junior Hockey Corporation (MJHC) has requested the City Commission consider leasing the concession area of Lakeview Arena. MJHC operated the concession area during the 2019 ice season. Staff has worked with the City Attorney and MJHC to draft the lease agreement. The agreement term is six (6) months, beginning October 1, 2019 through March 31, 2020. The monthly payment during operation shall be $720.00.

It should be noted that there are specific hours which MJHC would have exclusive rights to concession in the building. Outside of these hours other arrangements with separate entities are possible.

The proposed lease agreement was introduced at the Commission's September 30, 2019 meeting and approved as recommended to move the lease agreement forward to the October 15, 2019 meeting.

FISCAL EFFECT:

The Lakeview Arena fund will receive $4,320.00 in revenue for FY 2020.

RECOMMENDATION:

Approve the lease agreement with Marquette Junior Hockey Corporation for concession space at Lakeview Arena, and authorize the Mayor and Clerk to sign the agreement.

As determined by the Commission.
