BACKGROUND:

Marquette Junior Hockey Corporation has requested the City Commission consider leasing office storage space at Lakeview Arena. Staff has worked with the City Attorney and Marquette Junior Hockey Corporation to draft a standard lease agreement which provides for the terms and conditions of the request. The annual payment shall be $6,390. The term of the lease is five (5) years.

The lease agreement provides for annual increase not-to-exceed three percent (3%) from the previous year's rate.

This is a renewal of a longstanding lease with Marquette Junior Hockey Corp.

The proposed lease agreement was introduced at the Commission's September 30, 2019 meeting and approved as recommended to move the lease agreement forward to the October 15, 2019 meeting.

FISCAL EFFECT:

The Lakeview Arena fund will receive $6,390 in revenue for FY 2020.

RECOMMENDATION:

Approve the five-year lease agreement with Marquette Junior Hockey Corporation for office and storage space at Lakeview Arena, and authorize the Mayor and Clerk to sign the agreement.
