As part of the FY 2020 budget review, a revision of the water rates was recommended for water utility customers by Raftelis, the City’s utility rate consultant. The rate increase is necessary to keep a balanced budget associated with the adopted FY 2020 budget and to keep the Water Fund solvent. A 12.25% increase in rate-related revenues is proposed.
The rates will change per the attached Ordinance #683. Usage rates will increase for an average customer from $7.35 to $8.10 per kgal. The non-taxable rate will increase from $8.09 to $8.90 per kgal.
For an average customer using 4,000 gallons per month, the water bill will increase from $36.59 to $41.07 per month. For all three utilities combined, an average customer will have an increase of $11.76 per month, or $141.12 per year.
